Sina The Gray
A top-notch boutique hotel a stone’s throw from the Duomo and the Scala, and 5 min walk to the chic shopping area that the Milanese call Quadrilatero della Moda. Sina The Gray is very stylish with dark floors, white walls, bright curtains, and vivid colors in furnishing like the sofa and an intriguing hanging chair in the lobby (we never saw someone actually sitting on it, but it looked great!). A small brick walled bar adjacent to the lobby looks quite nice, with black leather chairs, large sofas and views to the street, but we do recommend you savor the typical Milanese aperitivo at one of the other excellent lively bars in town. Breakfast is served in a lovely small restaurant with a charming bamboo outdoor terrace and cozy décor. We loved it on hot days when the early mornings were still pleasantly breezy. There is one more restaurant onsite, which is convenient on days you just want to stay in. There are only 21 rooms and they are not alike, layout and facilities vary, including options with a private steam bath or a gym. The accommodation is all very modern and trendy with refined touches, a lot of wood (from dark to light depending on the room), design lampshades, canopy beds, leather headboards, discrete ethnical objects, you can find it all. The atmosphere is truly modern chic. Bathrooms follow suit, and we found the bedroom with the design bathtub very attractive and the suite with the Jacuzzi a top choice! The hotel likes to emphasize its hi-tech features, which worked fine although hi-fi systems, plasma smart TVs and efficient Wi-Fi have become commonplace in luxury properties nowadays. Staff is attentive.
