Le Voltaire

The Le Voltaire is a “good-old” French restaurant that has been serving generations. Recently renovated, the restaurant has become even more delightful, with a charming terrace and comfortable interiors. Do take notice of the walls with beautiful cognac bottles. We found out that this French classic has become quite popular with Americans expats in Paris, some of the reasons being that the staff all speak English quite well and the service is one of the friendliest in town. We went to Voltaire looking for its steak and fries and it did not disappoint. The steak, which is actually called bavette, is very good, and the thin fries are some of the best we had in Paris. We also ordered a delicious carpaccio to begin our meal and another of the main courses was a perfectly grilled salmon with sauce. The restaurant is right by the Seine, which could be very convenient, and just cross the bridge you will find the Louvre Museum. Do choose to sit at the terrace on Sundays only, however, when there is less traffic and noise.
