The Bauer, as it is known, is full of grandeur. The canal side property is a lovely classic Venetian building adorned with crystals and marble, well worth admiring, and the grand style is complemented by modern facilities in the adjacent annex. We loved the size of the rooms, particularly considering we stayed at a standard one, and the hotel’s service is flawless. The delicious breakfast is served at the green saloon with a view to the canal and the stunning Santa Maria della Salute Basilica, and in summertime it is served outdoors with the same stunning views. The location? It could not get any better: Piazza San Marco is basically on the corner and to the opposite direction you will find a quieter area of Venice. It leaves you feeling like you are away from hustle and bustle yet, still quite close. Attention: there is another hotel by the name of Bauer Palladio on the other side of the canal, which is a different property form the one we stayed and recommend.
