The Hotel Intercontinental in Vienna falls outside our standards, as we avoid hotel chains due to their characteristic lack of personality. The Bessa on Liberdade Avenue is really well located, on the famous Lisboan tree lined boulevard and just a short walk to most of the city’s nicest neighborhoods, like Bairro Alto and Chiado. We found the Lumiares to be a perfect hotel/apartment combination right at heart of one of Lisbon’s most sought after areas, lively Bairro Alto. The Nautilus Hotel is a casual and elegant oceanfront hotel in Miami Beach, designed by famous architect Morris Lapidus in the 50’s.
