Part of the same group that owns Lisbon’s hottest hotel, the Memmo in Sagres is as stylish, trendy, cool and uber hip as its capital city’s sister property. The modern ambiance will provide an agreeable stay, although it being on the very south of the Algarve means it is further away from popular main attractions such as the Benagil grottos and the nicest beaches. It is, however, only minutes away from the fantastic views of the large coastal rock formations, which are in Sagres, and only a thirty-five minute drive to Ponta da Piedade, one of the most scenic spots in the Algarve. If you intend to explore this coastal region, the Memmo is the perfect choice. We stayed there when we were leaving the area on our way to Lisbon by car. The hotel restaurant is very nice, serving international cuisine and even crunchy pizzas over delightful views of the bay. Rooms are good, although we’ve stayed in larger ones in the Algarve, and adequately comfortable. The décor is calming and inviting, in warm neutral tones with wooden detailing. The bathrooms are functional with fine amenities. Try to book an ocean view room or the lovely pool view. Close by you’ll find Terra Restaurant, a simple and friendly venue where we enjoyed lovely seafood pasta. The tiramisu is also not to be missed.
