This charming boutique property in Niederdorf has only 27 rooms and a tiny lobby, or rather a reception desk, with a lovely welcoming atmosphere and coffee, tea and pastries served right at entrance. Helmhaus does not offer a full hotel infrastructure, but is conveniently located in Old Town right by bustling Schifflände and a two-minute walk to Grossmünster and all other beautiful Zurich attractions. The historic 14th Century building has been recently fully renovated to offer all the modern amenities and expected comforts. The small restaurant serves breakfast only, which is not really a problem as the hotel is set amidst dozens of bars and restaurants. Please note these popular establishments attract many customers as Neiderdorf is a bohemian area, but the hotel´s soundproofed windows effectively keep out any street noise. In general, accommodation is small and cozy, stylishly decorated and carries very good quality linen and newly refurbished bathrooms. Superior rooms offer more space. As Zurich is an expensive town, we recommend the Helmhaus as a good option for a small, well-located stay at less ultra-expensive prices.
