Is chocolate the first thing that comes to mind when you think of Switzerland? Well, Swiss cuisine has a lot more to offer and Zürich is probably the best town in the country to savor the many Swiss delicacies, as well as renowned international restaurants. For an authentically Swiss gastronomic experience try the many veal options, the famous and delicious röstis, cheeses, amazing sausages to rival the German neighbors’, the raclettes and if the weather is cold a melting fondue experience is highly recommended. Zürich showcases a broad range of international food, Italian and French restaurants are abundant, and you can also find Asian and other ethnic cuisine. Charming outdoor cafés are lovely options when the weather is warmer, we particularly loved the ones by the lake on hot days. Oh, back to chocolate, of course we have a long-lasting love affair with Sprüngli!

The Swiss way of eating sausages. We were recommemded this place years ago as the best sausage in town, and recently checked it out again. Rright at Bahnhostrasse this café is a great option for a stroll in this elegant part of town. It is only two blocks away from the lake and surrounded by fancy shops. Considered the best pizza in town, you will surely enjoy this unpretentious restaurant. Try some crispy disks straight from the wood fire oven, as well as many pasta options and other Italian dishes. Centrally located at Bellevue, by the lake and the Opera House, this legendary café was opened just before the first Great War.
