Toscano
The Toscano is located in the lovely neighborhood of Beacon Hill, a short walk from the beautiful Public Garden. There are two main rooms, one less formal with wooden tables and a bar at the end. The Italian menu offers typical dishes like paninis, pizzas and soups, but what sets it apart are the lovely appetizers and Italian antipastos, as well as the entrees. We started with a mouth watering carpaccio, thinly sliced with a generous amount of capers. The mussels also looked interesting. Although the menu offers plenty of tempting main course options, we opted for the porcini mushroom fettuccini and the eggplant parmigiana, both delicious. The lunch and dinner menus vary, but the very lovely chef will prepare a dish from anyone should it be your preferred choice. The extensive wine list has half bottles on offer, which is a rare find. Since you are already in lovely Beacon Hill, take the opportunity to go for a stroll before or after your meal. The neighborhood is charming, full of small streets and dwellings in typical Victorian architecture.
