Mercado de Pinheiros

Wherever we are traveling, we always make a point of going to local markets, as we feel they exemplify and express local culture. At this market, located in Pinheiros, head to the upper floor and enjoy a meal at Mocotó Café, a sampler for iconic Mocotó Restaurant, which is located in a distant neighborhood but offers amazing typical dishes from Northern Brazil. We love the tapioca squares as an appetizer, the Baião de Dois (rice, beans, a type of jerked beef, cheese curd and bacon) as a main course and accompanied, of course, by a caipirinha or cold beer. The international touch in Pinheiros comes from the Peruvian Comedoria Gonzales (ceviches, salteñas and other house specialties) and the Italian Napoli Centrale, which serves excellent pizzas. At the Mercado de Pinheiros you can also find authentic Amazonian spices and cooking utensils, in a concept outlet created by Brazil’s rock star Chef Alex Atala.
