La Vitrola

The most famous and recognized restaurant in Cartagena repeatedly sparks lively debates about whether La Vitrola’s food really is the best in town. We liked it, but it cannot be denied there are other equally excellent options in Cartagena. Frequented by A-Listers in all fields, politicians and all sorts of celebrities, the ambiance is reminiscent of a 50s Havana, with delightful live Cuban music and a cheerful atmosphere that has folks up and dancing in between courses. The menu is quite extensive, you will find steaks and seafood, but we could not help trying some of the Cuban options , obviously preceded by refreshing mojitos. It is one of the most demanded restaurants in town, so plan ahead and book a table via your hotel concierge. Note there are sites that lead you to believe reservations are possible, but it is not the case, you can only get a table reserved through your hotel. La Vitrola is by no means a cheap evening out, prices are in the higher end compared to others in town, but overall the cost seemed fair and the experience worthwhile. Flip-flops and bermuda shorts are not allowed, so dress for a hot Latin evening of dancing and fun!
