Due Cuocchi
Due Cuochi is amongst the best loved Italian restaurants for locals. The house, located in the Itaim neighborhood, is distinct for its green awning and glass façade. As you enter there is a bar next to the main room and a cozy ambiance throughout. The welcoming contemporary décor and service contribute to maintain Due Cuocchi’s reputation as one of the best restaurants of this genre in São Paulo. In our last visit the Caprese salad was as excellent choice for a starter followed by a delicious green bavete (pasta) with octopus, prawns, tomatoes and basil. For meat lovers, the Florentine bisteca (steak) received much praise, as did the lamb carré with gratin potatoes and garlic and herb sauce. We have an unashamed sweet tooth and can confirm the desserts did not disappoint: the Parmesan Reggiano creme bruleé, the Chianti pears and all chocolate choices are unmissable. There is a house next door, which was initially created to accommodate the clients awaiting tables. Now called Due, it has its own menu, focused mainly on snacks, and an informal ambiance set amidst plants, colorful seats and a backyard feel. The naturally fermented pizzetas are a big hit. Due Cuochi has more than one address in town, we like the original one in Itaim.
