D.O.M.

The accolades speak for themselves: rated 16th on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants for 2017, awarded two Michelin stars and considered one of the best restaurants in São Paulo. Brazilian chef Alex Atala adds a creative contemporary touch to typical Brazilian dishes, using innovative ingredients, many from the Amazon Rainforest, resulting in a true explosion of tastes. We’re partial to the meat with red wine sauce and aligot, but tried other masterpieces which were superb, such as shrimps infused in cashews and tamarind and cubed hump steak cooked in a high tech fashion. For dessert the clear banana and orange ravioli scented with priprioca root was enchanting. There is a tasting menu, which changes regularly, but can include any number of dishes such as: raw scallops with sliced heart of palms and tucupi sauce (yellow juice of the mandioc root, typical of the Amazon region), bright flower salad with dry tapioca, confit duck with cará root cream, basil and lemon sorbet, crystalized peppers and bacuri (fruit native of the Amazon) chutney, cinnamon zabaione with cheese ice cream and strawberry sauce. A meal at D.O.M is a highly interesting gastronomical experience sure to intrigue your taste buds and, in our opinion, lives up to the hype. The prices do reflect the accolades received, but it is indeed worth every cent!
