Café Majestic
“This modern café inaugurated at one of the central points of Porto, the entrance of Rua Santa Catarina, is one of the most noble and luxurious cafes that we know of, for which its name Majestic is most suited and justified”. Such was the description of Café Majestic on an old newspaper. It is a perfect example of rich Belle Époque architecture and splendor, where we tasted delicious codfish fritters and a traditional club sandwich. Other cafe-type dishes like pastas and simple meat and fish are on the menu as well. Absolutely do not miss the Portuguese style French toasts, considered the best in the city. We really liked it, but order only if you like very sweet desserts. We hope you go there by the time the clock clicks over Fnac on the opposite corner, at Palladium Gallery, when enchanting clock figures come out of the building for spectators’ amusement! Do take the opportunity to walk all the way up the pedestrian street until you reach Capela das Almas, a wonderfully perfect example of beautiful Portuguese tile façade on a church. The Majestic is also suitable for coffee and pastries in between sightseeing in the region.
