The Ampersand is located in the lovely neighborhood of Kensington, an affluent residential area that holds attractions like the Natural History Museum, the Royal Albert Hall and Hyde Park. We found it especially convenient that the tube station is just one block away, as well as the proximity to so many good restaurants and cafes in the surrounding streets. The hotel is housed in a typical Victorian building, and the interiors are stylish with design touches, some art pieces, a delightful breakfast room and a nice bar. The accommodation is of high quality, with comfortable beds and amenities such as coffee and tea trays. Attention: rates for the Small Double rooms seem attractive, but these rooms are really tiny. Pay just a little extra for more space, yet bear in mind rooms in London are overall small. Staff at the Ampersand was courteous and very knowledgeable about the area and how we should move around.
