Right by one of Venice’s most photographed canals, The Splendid is on a busy corner of the town center and a short walk to most of the city’s popular attractions. Considering the property is located in the oldest and most demanded part of town, do expect busy days around the hotel. Evenings are a lot more peaceful and you will be strategically located to explore the best restaurants the city has to offer. We actually enjoyed our stay there, we had the same great experience at the the Rosa Grand in Milan and the Inghilterra in Rome, all owned by the same group. The hotel’s lobby is tiny and the accommodation cozy and comfortable, mostly in classic styles with a contemporary flair. If you are noise sensitive ask for rooms in the back and high floors, although the tiny streets tend to echo the mildest of the conversations. If you would rather have a stay with a view, ask for one of the rooms facing the canal. The staff seems to get a little uneasy given the large flow of people around, but overall is quite efficient. The hotel has a rooftop bar that is quite pleasant on nice weather days.
