Grand Hyatt

Not our style to recommend large hotel chains, but the sheer immensity of São Paulo city demands equally sizable properties to accommodate the large influx of guests. And, we were especially endeared by this Hyatt property. It is located in the southern area (Zona Sul) of São Paulo, near Berrini and Faria Lima Avenues, where there is a high concentration of businesses, as well as large shopping malls like Morumbi, Market Place, Cidade Jardim and JK (the last two are our favorites). The hotel is very modern and comfortable, and the in-house Kinu restaurant offers authentic Japanese ambiance and cuisine, which we sampled on different occasions and were pleased with every dish. There are two hotel bars, the Wine Library, which has one the best and most complete wine lists in the city, and the poolside NU, where you can sample delicious quick dishes. All rooms are spacious and comfortable, some with ceiling to floor windows. If possible, choose a Suite with a view to Estaiada Bridge, one of the city’s landmarks. There is a fabulous urban spa, which we tried and approved, as well as a fitness center and covered swimming pool, very pleasant for doing a few laps.
