If you are spending a few days in Santorini and have time to see another island, take a short trip to nearby Ios. It’s well known for its beautiful flatter landscape, when compared to Santorini, and picture perfect seas, which have a myriad of hues of blue in contrast to Santorini’s almost monotone deep blue sea. There is a daily Santorini-Ios service which leaves in the early morning and returns in the evening, perfect for a day trip. When you get to Ios rent a scooter or quadricycle and lose yourself in the island’s beautiful landscape. The island is popular with a young party crowd, who like to hang out at the Mylopotas resort. If lively beach parties appeal to you, go straight there and enjoy the many restaurants, trendy bars and hip beach clubs. The beaches furthest from the port are ideal should you be after a more relaxing and tranquil spot. Don’t forget your camera and/or extra phone battery, as you will inevitably want to take many photos.
