When to
Go
You will be able to enjoy Santorini during most of the year. We do not recommend you visit to the Greek Islands in the colder winter season, or even from November through March, because the island is very quiet and most of the attractions and businesses open only seasonally to cater for the tourists. However, Santorini is the exception and has a fair amount of tourists year around. Although many venues and attractions will be closed, you can enjoy the cooler months in Santorini with the advantages of fewer tourists and, consequently, cheaper rates. Explore the city, archeological sites, indulge in many photographic sessions and take your time admiring Santorini’s unique beauty and magnificent sunset. If you do want to enjoy the beaches and sea, go between July and mid-September, when the sea temperatures rise and there is no rain. This is the island’s busiest time, so booking your hotel in advance is a must and do expect to pay full high season prices. In some cases, your planning should include restaurant reservations as well. During the months of March to June and from the end of September to the beginning of November, the temperatures are mild and the day outings very pleasant.
