If in Rome for the first time, or on business but want to escape from office for some time, or even if you have been here before but can’t resist revisiting your favorite sights, there is one very important rule: buy tickets in advance for the busy places like The Vatican, Sistine Chapel, Castel Sant’Angello or the Colosseum. If visiting on the peak holiday periods June- July- August, buy tickets well in advance to avoid long ticket lines (lines for entry with tickets are generally smaller). And in fact, we highly recommend you organize a private or semi-private tour (usually up to 8 people), when you will skip all lines and have experienced informative guides getting you acquainted with the area. It is much more organized, comfortable and informative. To book a private or semi-private tour contact your hotel and ask for advice. Many excellent tour companies operate with the hotels to create small groups of guests from other hotels nearby. All our suggested hotels have Concierge or Reception Staff who would be able to assist in booking tours.
