Flea Markets

You have probably already heard about the El Rastro flea market that happens on Sundays in the old-fashioned neighborhood of La Latina. It is actually a great traditional Sunday program, especially if extended with tapas and beers at one of the many bars on La Latina’s bygone cobbled sloped streets. They can get extremely crowded, with locals and visitors alike, but we still find flea markets a worthy experience. For more of a local feel, and a few less visitors, head to Mercado de Motores, which takes place at the old Delicias station (the same station as the Railway Museum). Stands are set up in between trains, on platforms and outside areas, and there is a large variety of items on sale, food, drinks and sometimes music. Mercado de Motores is quite unique, do not miss out on this experience and check the schedule before visiting since the market usually happens only once a month for a whole weekend.
