Tenda do Nilo

This really tiny and modest venue serves delicious traditional Lebanese meals. You will often see lines of people on the sidewalk just outside awaiting their turn and sampling appetizers brought over by the attentive waiting staff. The highlight here is the food and, despite the humble setting, your meal will surely be delicious and satisfying. Tenda do Nilo is so well loved that some consider it to have the best Middle-Eastern food in town. Start with the dips: hummus (chickpea paste), dry curd, mhamara (red peppers with nuts) and baba ghanoush (eggplant) with pitta bread; then sample the dry meatballs (quibes) and the moist falafels. The absolute highlight is the delicious Fatte, a mixture of crunchy toasted Arabic bread, meat, chickpeas, fresh curd, cashews and fried garlic: sublime! For dessert, we recommend the prize winning One Thousand and One Nights, a groats flour cake with a pistachio and orange flower water cream, delicious!
