Restaurante F

  • S49_Algarve_RestauranteF

Set in a nicer ambiance than most Portimão restaurants, the F was one of our best dining choices in the region. If you are staying at Hotel da Rocha or the Bela Vista, it is just a five-minute walk. Spacious terrace hanging over Praia da Rocha guarantees a special view for your meal, particularly during the unforgettable sunsets. But do not expect a laid back beach style restaurant, the F is upscale, with impeccably attentive wait staff, white table cloths, candle light tables and an elaborate menu. We were initially served a delicious amuse bouche made with bright red carabinero shrimp, a local delicacy. For starters we ordered some crunchy tacos stuffed with octopus and garlic flavored shrimp, which were delicious. Since there were four of us, we took the opportunity to order a selection of dishes to share, such as fish cataplana with seafood, which served two, grilled fish with vegetables and a light butter-based sauce, a Portuguese style steak and some grilled meat cooked to perfection served with roast potatoes. Everything was delicious and well presented. For dessert we had fun sharing an appetizing bittersweet chocolate tart and crème brûlèe torched at our table to ensure the perfect crunchy sugary crust. The restaurant has a great selection of wines, which the sommelier expertly recommends to accompany chosen dishes, and there are plenty of options sold by the glass.
