Ma Salle à Manger

We actually wanted to keep the Ma Salle à Manger a secret, as we fear once this gem is discovered it may well lose its allure. But, such is the pleasure of the dining experience, we decided to share it, but just with you. We love this small typically French bistro for two reasons: the food is delicious and the location is simply the loveliest in town, by our darling Dauphine square. It is just two or three blocks away from Notre-Dame Cathedral, yet surprisingly a well kept secret mostly frequented by locals. There is no fixed menu and the available options are written up on a board. The chef prepares whatever is available and fresh from the market. We were lucky to dine at Ma Salle à Manger more than once and sampled delicious dishes like a breaded grilled salmon with tender potatoes, ravioli on a creamy sauce, a duck confit and a tasty linguine with tomato and pesto. For dessert, we could not resist the simply divine cheesecake with berry sauce and the crème brûlée, probably one of the best we had in Paris. Do take the opportunity to enjoy a stroll at Place Dauphine before or after your meal, admire the architecture around the square and see the elderly and youngsters playing the typical French game of “pétanque”.
