There is more than one branch in town, but if you are looking for authentic German (and Austrian) food, we suggest you go to the original one located on the beautiful Gendarmenmarkt square. It is a full service restaurant, not a beer hall, and attracts a very faithful clientele. It tends to get busy so best to book a table. One of its main specialties, and for what Lutter und Wegner is renowned, is the Wiener Schnitzel. We tried the large one (enough for two people) and requested it crispy with a side of potatoes, along with a salad of romaine lettuce with parmesan shavings and capers for accompaniment. It was delicious. Something sweet? Ja, bitte, and you cannot go wrong with the traditional Apfelstrudel with vanilla sauce.
