Bar Pitti

A laid back, cool and hip Italian in Greenwich Village. Always busy, always crowded, takes no reservations, so be patient and you will be rewarded with savory Italian dishes. Try to get a table outside if the weather is nice, it is great for people watching. The menu is a little concise but well supplemented with a list of specials. The vitello tonnato is excellent, as are the artichokes or parmesan eggplant appetizers (some are not in the menu, but the Chef may accept orders upon request). Their pasta is all freshly handmade, try the traditional pappardelle fiesolana, the houses pièce de résistance. Service can be a bit unfriendly, with hurried waiters and an impatient hostess, but the delectable food and vibrant ambiance should make up for it.
