Augustiner

If you are looking for a typical German beer hall, this is the place to go in Berlin. It is located on beautiful Gendarmenmarkt Square, which is worth visiting in its own right, with its historical French and German churches and the Konzerthaus. One of the best-known and traditional breweries in München’s Oktober Fest, Augustiner is originally from the Bavarian region and has been operating since the 15th century. It gathers a noisy jolly crowd at its large wooden tables in the main room and servers in lederhosen walk hurriedly past with huge beer mugs. You might fancy the house specialty Haxe, a two pound crisply roasted pork knuckle, or for something slightly lighter, try the bratwurst with potato pureé and sauerkraut, very satisfying! And, of course the beer was fantastic! Prost!
