When to
Go

It may sound cliché but spring is undoubtedly the most charming time of year to visit Amsterdam. It is when Keukenhof opens, and not only are the Netherlands and tulips interconnected, but it is considered one of the most beautiful flower gardens in the world, displaying the best in Dutch floriculture. Having said that, it is also the most expensive time of the year and hotel rates can be double that of early summer.  Amsterdam has lovely summers, from July to September, as its gets plenty of sunshine yet its coastal position prevents the temperatures from skyrocketing and you will be able to enjoy cycling around in the sunshine and cool sea breeze. It starts to get cooler and rainier in the Autumn (Fall) and winters are cold, but not as bad as most northern European cities, and hotel rates are usually most favorable in January.
