We found the Lumiares to be a perfect hotel/apartment combination right at heart of one of Lisbon’s most sought after areas, lively Bairro Alto. It offers all the infrastructure you could expect from a recently renovated hotel, including a modern reception, a nice restaurant, cleaning services, etc. Yet, most rooms are quite large with kitchenettes, ideal for extended stays. An upstairs rooftop area, which doubles as a breakfast room in the mornings and a bar later in the day, has spectacular city views and attracts non-guests during peak season. The hotel is tucked away on a small street in a typically Portuguese neighborhood, full of old tile façades in buildings, charming cafes and restaurants. The bedrooms are all very nice and spacious yet differ in layout, with some studios, lofts and two story apartments, so check in advance to ensure your chosen room will meet your specific needs. The decor is modern and charming, with bespoke artisanal objects and hand made tapestries. The downstairs spa is very good, the staff was super friendly and the ambience quite relaxing. Do not miss the photo opportunity by the renovated grand staircase, with its pretty art deco hanging lights. The Lumiares is an excellent choice of stay in Lisbon!
