When to
Go

We generally tend to recommend traveling to European, and other northern hemisphere destinations, in Spring and Fall, for the mild temperatures. Yet, Zürich is a place you can enjoy when temperatures are either at their peak or lowest. Summer is not as hot as in other cities in the continent, the river and the lake are close to the main areas of the city and bring a pleasant breeze during the day, and evenings are not that warm either. In winter, you can profit from some of the best snow conditions in the world and head to the mountains for some skiing, snowboarding or stay in town and have fun iceskating in outdoor rinks. December is a peak month with visitors looking for holiday lights and snowcapped postcard scenery, the White Christmas about which everyone dreams. Due to such allure, summer and winter hotel rates are at their peak. Springtime brings an abundance of stunning flowerbeds and Fall brings the red colored trees, both lovely seasons, but temperatures are chilly. Perhaps avoid November to mid-December, as usually the leaves have already fallen, it is starting to get very cold yet snow has not started to fall. If you are able, book it so that you can enjoy a white Switzerland experience.
