Piperno

A super traditional old school restaurant with a faithful clientele, located in the Jewish ghettos. It is right in a typical Roman patio with fading paint and plant pots hung on walls, traditional tables and chairs as well as waiters who appear to have been serving there for life. Lovely classical china and silver tableware complete the environment. We had the famous artichokes giuidia as well as fried fiori di zucca for starters, and for main course a traditional roman Cacio e Pepe (not on the menu but made at our request) and vitelo alla saltimboca with sauteed spinach as contorni, everything very good quality and delicious. For dessert palle di nonno fritte, fried balls of ricotta, is a house specialty, which you are unlikely to find elsewhere. The whole experience was lovely, the main courses were not particularly special yet the highlights were actually the starters and desserts. A night to be remembered as a little piece of old style Rome.
