Dal Bolognese
This very traditional Roman restaurant, with its quintessential red chairs, serves typical Italian dishes as well as Bolognese ones, the most famous being tagliatelle with meat ragu, original from the city of Bologna. We were delighted with the melanzana (eggplant) parmigiana with which we started our feast, as well as the thinly sliced carpaccio. The antipasti were followed by a delicious caneloni filled with ricotta and spinach with parmesan cheese gratin, and the branzino with tomatos and verdure was one of the best fish we had in town. For a grand finale, opt for the divinely harmonious bitter sweet orange tarte with chocolate mousse. The wine list was quite interesting, given the upscale ambience of the restaurant, with many excellent choices available at a good value. If possible, request to be seated on the ground floor room, a livelier ambiance with more attentive service. Take the opportunity for an after dinner stroll in the adjacent Piazza del Popolo, or, if there during the day, walk around beautiful Villa Borghese Park nearby.
