The centrally located Hotel Teatro (meaning “theater” in Portuguese) is indeed full of artful drama. Housed at the old theater Teatro Baquet, its large entrance door opens up to corridors, common areas and a reception decorated in dark velvet and golden colors, with theatrical costumes on display and phrases and images from plays depicted on walls, carpets and curtains. We found the small inner courtyard to be delightful, next to the restaurant that serves breakfast, as well as other meals. Rooms are very good, there are seventy of them, and they maintain the theatrical themes, with brocades on fabrics and stage references aplenty. Its location is very convenient to explore Porto on foot. The hotel staff was the most courteous we came across and made us feel that at Hotel Teatro guests are always the leading character!
