The Gore

A typical 18th Century British building houses The Gore, a property that has been renovated and offers all amenities a traveler could expect. Located in South Kensington, just blocks away from the Natural History Museum and a seven minute walk to subway stations, its location is ideal to explore the city, especially considering that this part of town offers more reasonable hotel rates. The Gore’s style is “old-British” boutique, traditional and elegant, with typical check patterns, wooden floors and ceilings, and art depicting traditional hunting parties. It has a small restaurant, that also serves breakfast, and a bar. Rooms are comfortable but the Standard Rooms are really small, as is the case in most London hotels, so check if it is possible to get an upgrade to a suite. Do take a look at the beautiful iron cast staircase, even though you will probably opt for the (slightly slow) elevator most times. Nearby Exhibition Street and Gloucester Road have plenty of eating venues and pubs with a good local feel. Staff is courteous and takes pleasure in talking about the building and its typical British characteristics.
